The Presbytery of Maroondah has decided to invest in some materials that can be used by uniting church congregations, agencies and schools within the presbytery in order to assist them in promoting themselves and the wider Uniting Church in their local communities.
We Have:-
Two Uniting Church Flags & Flagpoles.
Four Uniting Church Polo Shirts.
Two Uniting Church Umbrellas.
A range of Brochure Holders as well as
a selection of Uniting Church and agency Brochures.
The Presbytery Banner.
We also have
Two folding tables and folding chairs
(some locations they
will be needed) .
A folding gazebo (also doubles as
something
to hang publicity on, some locations do not provide a shelter - it has
a length of velcro around the top to attach posters to).
Second thoughts, looking at the local municipal structural
requirements for temporary food premises
"A Food Stall should consist of a roof and three walls covered with
plastic sheeting, vinyl or other aproved material"
Any thoughts of using the Gazebo for a Pancake Day Stall or Sausage
Sizzle may need to consider local food handling requirements
A small whiteboard (for those last
minute
notices).
Some storage crates.
A Hand Trolly (at some community festivals
parking is some distance from the site).
A display board, with velcro compatible surface. (See instructions on
how I made it)
Some flashing lights (you may also need a clip on bedlight if the
display is placed
in a dark corner).
Following
several stalls in conjunction with the children & family worker
from Croydon UC where she provided activities for children I realised
these are essential ingredients to encourage families to stop and look.
Kitty Litter tray ($2 at Reject Shop) bubble mix 1 part Morning
Fresh Dishwashing detergent (original, one part sugar and 6 parts
water, I mix it in 2 litre milk bottles. Bubble blowing wands ($2
in supermarket, add dowell for long handles). The second item to
include is some sort of prepared coloring or other craft work with the
name of your congregation and an appropriate text for the children to
take home preferable on light cardboard. Advertise the Children &
Family activities at your congregation
See DoorHanger.doc, put the name of your
church on it and get children to colour it or add smiley stickers or
whatever decorations they like (discourage "Keep Out" or other similar
messages not in keeping with your ethos).
Possible venues include municipal community festivals, church fetes & car boot markets, street or shopping centre stalls. We would encourage uniting church congregations, agencies and schools or groups within them to borrow the material as part of their promotions.
Some locations may not need all resources but we invite groups to select what they wish to borrow. We are also open to suggestions for improvements and additional materials we should hold.
All items would fit in a station wagon although the folded Gazebo needs about 1.5 metres room length. It will easily fit in a Tarago Van. While we would like you to collectand return the kit delivery can be arranged with the Presbytery as well as some assistance in developing your use of the display.
