Posters I have used
Posters I have
used, with either information on where I got them from, or alternativly
link to my Word document file, download it and print your own. If
anyone has any problems with what I have presented in good faith,
please discuss it with me.[ feedback@maroondahpresbytery.unitingchurch.org.au] Feel
free to compose your own, anything that will make people talk about our
church. Revisit as I may add others from time to time.
When composing my text I have tried to use existing documents or
brochures. My aim in presenting them in a poster format is to present
the statements to people as they wander past the display, give them the
opportunity to start a conversation on something that interests them. I
believe there are probably as many different reasons to discover the
church as there are people. Alternativly the purpose of a
particular display may need to follow a particular theme.
I Laminate my
posters, if possible with two identical posters back to back so they
can be seen from both sides. I often attach them 'clothes line style'
using a strip of velcro. I have a packet of both A4 and A3 laminating
pouches and have found I can use the heat laminator at our local UC
Aged Care Facility. Commercial laminating will be more expensive in the
long term. If possible trim the paper to significantly less than
the laminating pouch and hole punch them outside the paper area for
filing in a ring binder (I have several 3 D ring binders for diferent
topics). Those posters that have become wet while on display have had
the result the ink has run where there has been access to the
paper through the holes for the water to soak into the paper.
Photographs should be included in displays, however make sure you have
the permission of those people in shot to display it. Printing photographs A4
on plain paper, and then laminating them is usually an economical way
of presenting them. Try to put in photos that include the church as
other than the usual stereotype. I have some UCA calendars with a view to using their pictures of the church in action.
Make up a series about your own Congregation, Agency or UC School,
however I would encourage you to remember to include information about
the wider Uniting Church.

An A4 poster I found as a handout somewhere, keep your eyes open. Some
A4 trifold brochures can make a handy small poster (try A3 laminating with both sides visible), if laminated you
can at least hang onto one copy.

An
A3 Brochure distributed by Frontier Services 2005, again keep your eyes
open and be open to the many marvelous things sponsored by the Uniting
Church. Some posters can have a limited life where they advertise
a particular event on a particular date and time.

I
made this one up from the graphics and statements on their web site, I
did run it by the Justice and Internations Mission at Vic/Tas Synod
although they may not remember the discussion. While Uniting Justice
runs many good programs on particular issues, we really need a generic
style brochure as a handout to tell more of why they do what they do. Download A4 poster as a Word Document here >>>.

An A3 poster, is it just Vic/Tas Synod or general UC. It seems to be somewhat laminated already (which languages are missing).
Can you answer these questions?

An overview as I see it of UnitingCare. While you can download it as an
A4 poster I did produce an A3 version to give our local Volunteer
Resource Centre. Download A4 poster as a Word Document here >>>.

Find
out which agencies provide services on your area and ask them for a
short statement on what they do. Note some may have their own
logo and may or may not be legally associated with UnitingCare
(although services like Wesley Mission Melbourne work closely with
UnitingCare in providing services and are associated with the wider
Uniting Church [ don't forget they provide lifeline services in many
areas]). Ask agencies if they have any simple posters you can use as
well as any handout brochures. They may provide someone to help you at
larger festivals. Download this one for editing >>>.
